Show IV V Theatre There was a good azed audience at the Theatre last night the occasion of the second performance of the admirable ad-mirable society play of Deception which fact evidenced iU popular and attested its merits The pli and its performance baa been mentioned men-tioned at length heretofore and while in a few trifling particulars It went oS more smoothly it was s much on a par witb the first rendition rendi-tion as to leave little ream for further comment The audience was not AS demonstrative as on the first night but full as appreciative nor was i without free applause Miss Carey and Mr Morruon being called before be-fore the curtain at the ecd of the third act Only one thing occurred In any way disagreeable and that ws the premature dropping of the curtain in the first act which bad toe > to-e raised again but this unfortunate vent the result of a mistake was forgotten almost immediate after it had transpired The audience left pleased with themselves the actors and the piece It baa been advertised by the management agement tbat the California band wmcb arrived here with the Knights Templar Thursday would be pres < sent but such was not tbo case The Announcement wag made with the full expectation of the management that tte band would be present but for acme unaccountable reason it failed t put in an appearance Today a matinee performance of Romeo and Juliet will be given Those who did not witness tho piece OC Thursday night should not fail t eoe it today if they would have the satisfaction of attending a truly worthy performance Mr Pierov as Romeo Miss Carey as Juliet and the other characters well sustained Tonight the final 1 performance of the engagement of the combination takes place when the celebrated play of Diplomat will be put upon the boards andtbe very many friends of Mr J H Vinson will have an opportunity of fleeing him in his famous character of tbe Old Guard Tbe bill Ii sure to draw and the genuine merit of the combination entitles i to a bumper n parting |
