Show MT BALDY 3 > ft The Geological Formation of the Peat PeakI 4I I The Prospact Visible from Its Summit I And the Prospective Wealth of the New District MABYBVAtEUTAH NOV 27 1880 Editors Herald The morning on the Baldy range opens up with a prospect of a heavy anew storm It has been mowing all night on the high range and this morning the storm clouds have lowe low-e ed and the lovely is now pouring down a pelting storm in the valley ol the Sevier which will have a tendency tenden-cy to stop mining in the mountains out tbe mine owners in this grand mineral range are firm in the belief knowledge of this camp making one of the heaviest avning regions in Southern Utah Toe area of toe different dif-ferent mining claims give perfect satisfaction sat-isfaction that they are produced by true fissure veins in granite and porphyry por-phyry formation t making out to the best geologists of the country a true formation which indicates a heavy mining country and great wealth when developed and broucLt into notice to the capitalists and mining fraternity of either coast Mt Buldy IS a quartzite in formation as a peak and must have been shoved up to its present altitude from some grand internal in-ternal volcanio swell of mineral gases thai has given form externally to the entire mountain range as a mineral min-eral belt One can satisfy the curiosity curios-ity of the mind in regard to the makeup make-up of the country by climbing to the top of tbe Baldy peak on the Bullion trail and with a heavy field glass take in a fifty milo viiw of the surrounding sur-rounding country The view of the country northwest of the peak disclosea the saline formations for-mations of One Creek and the immense im-mense aulphur beds running in a belt of saline earths m a northeasterly and soutwesterly direction and du taut from the Baldy come twenty miles These take in the view to the northeast and the Saner Valley and tbe many firming settlements and towns appear in the hazy distance Joseph City Monroe Richfield a portion ol Glenwood or Prattville Willow Bud and Salina with their grand saline belts containing the heavy beds of eat Still further on in tbe same direction Gunnison can be plainly seen seventy miles away from the peak and on a clear day Manti can be seen on the borders ot Sinpete Valley and from the locality of tbe Mauti Temple when it is i finished fin-ished i can be seen from Mount Baldy Peak with a good field glass which will make a grand and pleasant view for a distance of about ninety miles Then turn to the east and soutneast and Urass Valley with its many ranches and small settlements is In plain view with tbe formations of Coyote Creek and the great antimony anti-mony mines of the east range of the Graes Valley Mountains The student stu-dent of geology baa ample scope in this grand view of the surrounding country to make up bis mind where mineralogy cornea in and divides and subdivides tbe country to suit the minds of the many traveling socalled mineral experts that profess to show the phenomena of natures vast resources re-sources The mining claims on the Cottonwood Cotton-wood Creek in Mt Baldy District have now the prestige Lr reason of the greater amount of work being done on them Tbe Ten Mile also has very fine ores and some good claims so far as surface indications o but be it remembered go r that the I mines of the Ohio Mining District in Old Pine Creek Canon will open up and then the true line of the boy mining operations on Mt Baldy range begins In Bellevue Webster and above Pine Falls are the heavy leadorea running with the quartzite formations capped witb porphyry and gramt < and the iree orES running m plats and granite in the distance form the qunttzte reefs The claims that have ben worked on in Bellevue Belle-vue and Web ter prove that the mines go down to the vast internal l depths and all that is wanted is working capital 1 Invested to open up a few claims just to give it a start and one 10stamp mill to crush a few thousand thous-and tons of ore and Pine Canon will then be ready for tbe electric light Under the present conditions I can afford to await the issue and tardiness developments of the camp PHCEPSCTOE |
