Show The Long Strike The revival of this oldtime but admirable drama is really an evidence evi-dence of the good judgment of the age which refuses to allow so excellent ex-cellent a production to pass into oblivion for want of appreciation Its production at the Walker Opera Housq last evening by the members of the Home Dramatic Club was admirable ad-mirable in every respect and the piece had all the attractiveness and novelty of a new drama rather than one which had been played year8 before under the title of The Great Strike Be that as it may it Is certain that the ladies and gentlemen gentle-men of the club have made no more pronounced success in the first production pro-duction of any piece than in the presentation of c The Long Strike Ifc is a play written in Boucicaults characteristic I style full of light and sparkling dialogue superbexciting and ludicieous situations situ-ations while the plot is so excellently excel-lently conceived and executed that the most intense interest is enforced Without criticising particularly the members of the club as a whole acquitted themselves with wonderful wonder-ful skill Mr Cummings outdid himself Mr Spencer was woil he la always good Mr H W Wells was wonderfully at home and the I play Mr Hany Taylor didja splendid double and showed himself the careful and considerate actor in both parts Miss Adams was all that the public expect of Miss Adamsand that is saying a great deal The other members were as excellent as the best in their i respec tive parts There was no hitches or want of any movement the play was put ahead lively and the interest inter-est and energy maintained These things coupled with the fact that no larg audience has ever gather In that building all conspire to make the entertainment a decided success The Long Strike will be repeated re-peated > tomorrow evening for the last time |
