Show A Strike Strikes are a very unusual thing in Utah for a number of reasons because wages are generally good and because labor is usually plentiful plenti-ful On Monday however a gang Of laborers employed in making excavations for the buildings to be put up by Messrs T W Ellerbeck and B Roberts west of the Theatre made a strike for higher wages They were receiving 175 per day and demanded 2 per day which being I refused thdy went on a strike forthwith On Tuesday however i the strikers were replaced by other laborers who were willing and glad to get work at 8175 per day Without i With-out discussing the merits of the case this is a better wage than men were getting few years back I then all the necessities as well as the luxuries of life were much i higher I |
