Mayor Van Fleet resigned recently because of ill health. The vote was unanimous to select Mr. Johnson. . M p. Leonard gave the oath of office to Mayor Johnson. John-son. . A NEW council person is to be selected within a 30 day period to fill the vacancy left by Mr. Johnson. Mr. Leonard suggested a letter be sent to the family of DeLore Nichols, former mayor of Farmington who died Nov. 16. THE COUNCIL requested attorney Gerald Hess to draw up a new ordinance pertain- ing to the hanging of signs in the city. Max Forbush, city manager, reported that property owners on 200 West, to 400 West on State Street, have requested curb and gutter gut-ter and street improvements in that area. A NEW fire truck has been purchased by the city and has been delivered. The truck is an American La France Century, Cen-tury, 1500 gallon class A pumper and is housed on 100 North. The council approved the pay for the volunteer firemen, 1978-79. Thev also annrnved the purchase of a new lawn mower to be used for the city, payment will be made through the revenue sharing funds. ALL NIGHT parking will be prohibited in Farmington City. No person shall park a vehicle on any street during the period from Nov. 1 to April 30, for a longer time than one hour between the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m., except physicians during emergency calls. The city marshal may issue a special permit for emergency or unusual circumstances. Tickets will be given for overnight parking. The council has the intent tn create an improvement district dis-trict in several places. This will cover parts of State and Main Streets and 2110 West that abuts the highway, putting put-ting in new curb and gutter, replacing old ditches and curbing. A SECOND phase would be to surface and put in curb and gutter and sidewalks on Compton Bench, 200 West north of 1100 North. The third phase would improve West State from 200 West to 400 West, both sides of the street, with curb and gutter gut-ter and apron to existing street, including the stub streets of 200 West north of State and 300 South of State Street. THE LAST phase would be installation of curb along 750 South to 850 South, where it is not now existing, along 200 East.
