APPOINTMENT REJECTED Ogden Council Again Turns Down George Graves as Chief of Fire Department Special to The Ogden Jan SI At the meeting of the city council tonight the appointment by Mayor Bill Glasmann of George Georg Graves as fire fira chief was again turned down The appointment of Dr Anna F as city physician was confirmed however An attempt made by Council Councilman Councilman man Dickson to have the two names voted upon together was unsuccessful A petition was presented signed by fifteen physicians of the city urging that the incumbent Dr Browning be retained as city physician The ordinance passed at the last meet meeting meeting meeting ing of the council raising the salary of the clerk of the police court was re no returned returned turned by tho the mayor with his veto and was then passed by the council by a vote of 8 S to 2 The mayor also returned a resolution concerning the insurance of public build buildings buildings ings inge with tho statement that ho thought the Insurance of ot the city buildings was higher than that of the other public buildings in the city whereas it should be lower because the buildings are located in the same samo block with the fire depart department department ment meat The Tho matter was referred to the local fire board and a committee of busi business business business ness men In the matter of erecting dykes along the Weber and Ogden rivers to keep back the high waters it was decided that the city should bear half the expense con connected connected connected with the construction and that the dykes be built before the coming of high highwater water In the tho spring
