OPEN From a Staff Correspondent Ogden Jan report of the committee on resolutions wa adopted by time the wool growers today without a dissenting voice The report which sums up time the sentiment of wool growers Is as follows The National WoOl Tool Growers asso elation in Its annual con convention assembled at Ogden Utah for forthe time the purpose of considering matters of vital importance to our industry viz the use of the national forest and the public lands as they pertain to the live stack the of predatory wild animals tariff legisla legislation tion railroad transportation of live livestock tock stock rates and service in the ship shipment meat ment of sheep and wool the thern national Warehouse Storage company and other matters pertaining to the sheep Industry submit the following as an expression or of our views and wishes pertaining to these matters Railroad Transportation Because of time the serious losses sus sustained tamed b by those engaged in the stock industry In the transportation of stock to market due to slow move movement movement ment of railway trains and long and unnecessary delays which we attribute to time the tonnage system nOW nan In vogue which tact fact we have repeatedly called to the attention of the railroad daIs without obtaining complete re relief liet lief and inasmuch as this condition obtains on every railroad system In the United States we deem It a proper subject for time the consideration tion of cf time the National Wool Growers as association association We Ve recommend that this association send a committee to Washington which shall endeavor to have a speed mini minimum minimum mum clause added to the present fed federal federa eral era law known as time the hour limit law which governs the shipment of live States Senate and CongresS who so worked for time the legislation so necessary to make wool growing with profit to the flock masters of this nation We recommend that the National Wool Growers association employ every means within Its power to en encourage encourage courage the future development dev of the wool Industry in the United States Production should be fostered In all sections of the country countr and the Indus Industry industry try nationalized Nothing would do more to encourage the industry on range and farm than to impart a feel teel lag ing of confidence and certainty in unsuitable to the proper and profitable conduct of the business and we think the mistakes ot af time the past can be avoided if men ot of experience In handling sheep on the ranges are brought Into recommend that the secretary of have an Investigation made by experienced men that the thousands of dollars worth of summer feed now going to waste on the for forest st reserves may be made use of by the stockmen of the surrounding country countr We extend Honorable S Secretary Wilson of the department of agriculture tune ture our sincere for his visit to the vest during time the past year ear to meet the users of the national forest reserves reSeneR This visit has already done much to bring about a better feeling between tIme the forest supervisors and the users of the reserve We sincerely hope that Secretary Wilson will take a firm hold of the great conservation policies of our nat natural natural ural reserves For we believe It onlY needs time the application of good common cities to establish Independent warehouses where the wool growerS can store their wool until such time as It can be satisfactorily marketed We believe that the success here heretofore attained In the establishment of Independent warehouses wilt will warrant the building of cooperative ware warehouses warehouses houses at various Atlantic seaboard clUes cities In time the very near future Department of Agriculture We commend the work of the do de department ot of agriculture time the bureau of animal industry and the bureau ot of plant industry In their investigation of poisonous plants and all other val valuable valuable work for the benefit of the live tock Industry and the farmers of the country and we recommend to Con Congress Congress gress libera appropriations for tor the continuance of such work Rewards The recent action of your executive officers In aiding the prosecution of recent crimes against the lives and property of Wyoming wool growers Is strongly
