order of ot business with nominations for tor county recorder In his speech nominating Joseph J r Meyers for recorder Fred C row stated that his candidate had never before asked for tor an office of ot the party although he had been an earnest can worker for years ears He also alluded to Mr Meyers Meers record with the Utah bat tery tory during the war Colonel George B Squires then nominated Fred J A Jaques who was seconded by the solid vote of 01 the Fourth precinct Dan Harrington who was less In evidence than usual placed the name of C R B VIgus before the convention After Atter a number of ot seconding speeches the convention pro proceeded proceeded to tu ballot the final vote standing Jaques Meyers Meers 84 8 and VIgus Jaques was the machine candidate and neither of ot the other candidates was strong enough to secure the necessary support The next nominations were put through with a rush as there was practically no opposition John M 1 Hayes placed the name of ot Frank glowing tribute to record for tor the past two years when he has been county treasurer and urged that the convention make him their candidate without further nominations Mr Groes beck was also nominated by b tion Struggle for Surveyor The struggle for county surveyor was hotly contested although Swenson won by a big margin John D H McAllister was placed in nomination by b George Bowles while J D Swenson was named by W R Hutchinson Swenson showed that his work In the county had been heartily appreciated as he secured the entire vote of the county count dele dole delegations
