Show Vol Verda By MARY LANDEN 292-5985 Several events involving Val Verdans have passed with much success and satisfaction to those involved and those in attendance. The Val Verda Stake Dance Festival was a success this month, as was the Jay Welch Chorale's annual concert, which played to a full house at the new symphony hall last week. The stork has not slackened activity either in the area: Brent and Liz Kirby and their children welcomed a new son on St. Patricks Day. A baby girl was born into the family of Val and Theresa Moananu on March 22 and James and DeeAnn Williams have a new daughter born April 12. April 3 was the birthday of a new daughter born to Mike and Cheri Rene Ericksen. Bruce and Beverly Gift have a new son born April 10. Two boys were born in the Val Verda Seventh Ward area: Vera and Dorothy Jones son was born April 17 and will be named Bradley. He joins Bryan in the family. Dave and Sue Jensen are naming their son Ryan Lynn. He was born April 15. He joins Scott, Judy and Steven in the family. Former Val Verdans, Steven and Gayla Quilter, now of Kaysville, have a son born on April 1 1 . Grandparents, still of Val Verda, are Rex and Clara Quilter. Moving from the neighborhood neighbor-hood are George and Pat Murdochs Mur-dochs family and the Elwood Nielsens. The Richard and Veann Denning family, with 16 children, have found a large home in Murray and have moved. Moving into the Denning home is another large family. Robert and Carlene Newland with 10 of their 12 children. They have one married son who lives in Provo, and a daughter Moana who is serving serv-ing an LDS mission in the Philippines. Phi-lippines. The family originally came from this area, but has been living in Idaho. Robert's parents, now passed on , were well-known in this area. They were James and Marguerite Newland. Carlene's parents, Willard and Marjorie Peck, are also well-known in the Orchard area. Robert is a sheetmetal worker at Falcon Industries. Carlene helps out some at Somersett Nursery School. A welcome to John and Sandra San-dra Williams and their four children, Lance, Ban, Jamey John and David. John is a programmer prog-rammer systems analyst for the LDS Church and Sandy's love is the arts painting, especially water colors. She is involved with a new direct sales artisic party plan. Moving into the former Toone home are Robert and Judy Plass with their daughter Mindy and Judy's brother Ross Skidmore. Ross is an engineer en-gineer for Univac. Both Robert and Judy are in medical school at the U . of U . Robert in his third year, and Judy in her second year. We were sorry to hear of the injuries Travis Moore sustained sus-tained in an auto-bike accident recently at the bottom of his street. Fortunately the injuries, in-juries, though painful, were not serious. Get well wishes go to Janet Boehme who is at home recuperating re-cuperating from recent surger-y surger-y ; and to Romona Higham who had a short stay in the hospital also last month. We extend our sympathy to Al Strasrypka whose father passed away last month. Many of us in the neighborhood knew his parents. Welcome back to Lloyd and Nelda Barlow who have returned re-turned from several weeks of soaking up the sun and warmer weather in the Phoenix area.
