Secrist and members of the city council, friendsrelatives and city employees em-ployees attended the swearing in ceremony of Police Chief Wayne Jeppson on Tuesday at the West Bountiful city offices. Mayor Secrist conducted con-ducted the ceremony and Beverly Be-verly Haslam, city recorder, issued the oath of office. MAYOR SECRIST said he thinks a great deal of Mr. Jeppson. Jepp-son. He comes from a good-sized good-sized family, who always support sup-port one another. Wayne is a product of the community and is a credit to the town, state and nation. Mrs. Jeppson said he hopes people will be happy with all that he does, and hopes the city and the police can support each other. AMONG THOSE present were Peggy Czyzeski, Montana; Mon-tana; Mary Ann Burna, Salt Lake City; Alta J. Findley, Sandy; Kathryn Jones, Heber City; Nanella Jones, his grandmother grand-mother from West Bountiful; Lawrence and Mabel Jeppson and children, Bountifil; his wife Ellen and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Taylor all of Bountiful; Ellen's sister, Peggy Peg-gy Taylor; Arlene Quckstorm; his brother Dana and wife Jolene and children, West Bountiful; his brother Chuck and his wife. Wayne was born in the LDS Hosptal in Salt Lake City , but has lived in West Bountiful and the area most of his life. He attended West Bountiful Elementary, Bountiful Jr. and graduated from Viewmont High. He will soon graduate from Weber State College with a BS degree in police science and police administration. He has been on the West Bountiful Police Force for four years. CHIEF JEPPSON married Ellen Taylor in 1978 and they are the parents of a daughter Sara. His interest in police work was largely because of his grandfather a member of Montana's Mon-tana's Highway Dept. He was with the original group of patrolmen pat-rolmen which was formed in 1937. CHIEF JEPPSON is happy to be working with the present police force of West Bountiful which consists of Marty Bean, who has been with the force for a little over a year; Walter Borschel, a new member of the force. |
