Show Oops! 13's Bigger HOOPER - We were ever wrong when we incorrectly assumed Legislative District 13 included only Davis County residents? FOR THAT reason, as we were preparing our election story at nearly midnight, Tuesday, Tues-day, we relied solely on the Davis County Clerk's office for results, stationing a reporter repor-ter on the scene. Based on those results, it looked to us as though MaryEllen Leatham, a Sunset resident, had tallied the widest margain over her opponent of any Davis County candidate, winning by 150 votes. WHEN THE Weber County votes are considered, though, that gap over Hopperite Shirley Shir-ley S. Carver narrows greatly, down to exactly 50 votes. Weber We-ber County's figures, obtained from that county clerk's office, registered Mrs. Carver relatively rela-tively far out in front, garnering garner-ing 41 1 votes vs. 307 for Mrs. Leatham. The final tally, for the re cord, is 546 for Mrs. Leatham and 496 for Mrs. Carver. That means Mrs. Leatham will face Kaye Browning, also from Sunset, in the Nov. 2 election. THE WEBER County portion por-tion of that House of Representatives Repre-sentatives district includes about ab-out one-fourth of the county's land area, a spokesperson at the Weber Clerk's office noted. Not only is Hooper included, in-cluded, but also Kanesville, Wilson, three voting districts in Roy and even part of Ogden. tb |
