Show Interstate Ramps Get Resurfacing FARMINGTON Walker Lane Interstate Highway 15 ramps are getting a resurfacing job, according to the Utah Department De-partment of Transportation. GIBBONS AND Reed Construction Con-struction Company of Salt Lake City was low bidder for the project with an offer of $188,482, considerably lower than the DOT engineer estimate esti-mate of $225,375. ' This will be the first permanent perma-nent surfacing for the overpass, over-pass, DOT officials noted. They said the final surface on a ; highway is not provided until several years after initial construction con-struction to allow for settlement. t "THAT WILL allow us to jdetermine what corrections 'and adjustments are necessary before final surfacing is com-, pleted," A DOT spokesperson explained. "The final surface will strengthen the road, thus providing for higher traffic: volume." ' At the same time, the fron-; tage road east of 1-15 will be' resurfaced for about two miles. Walker Lane ramps w ill be closed to traffic and motor-: ists will be advised to use the 1-15 interchange north of Lagoon La-goon during construction, grb |
