You must make the effort ef-fort to keep current, read all that is published, and voice your opinion. To help parents become better parents, a two-night workshop will be held at West Bountiful Elementary School on Jan. 25 and 28, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The workshop is entitled en-titled "Creative Parenting - A Workstop Designed to Enhance Parenting Skills." It will include six classes, three being presented each night, and parents may attend two a night, totalling four classes. The topics will be: Communication Com-munication Skills; Enhancing Self-image in Children; Sibling Rivalry; Discipline; The Encouragement Process (motivation); and The Emerging Role of Father. The workshop is open to the public in addition to the children presently attending the West Bountiful and South Bountiful Elementary Schools. It is free of charge and will be professionally taught. Mrs. Barbara DeBoar and Mrs. Annette McKnight are education commissioners of the local PTA unit, assisting assist-ing with the workshops. Mrs. Marilyn Chamberlain, wife of Dennis Chamberlain has been at Lakeview Hospital where she received treatment for pneumonia. Sincere get well wishes are sent her way at this time. A very important function concerning our lives as citizens ci-tizens of this state is the current budget session of the Utah Legislature. The session began Monday morning where one billion dollars will be spent. That billion is yours and my tax dollars which will be appropriated to numerous divisions and departments of government.-The legislature does not just pass laws, but does oversee that large amount of money for purposes which the majority feels would do the most good in the state. |
