Jacobsen to be honored on 50th anniversary Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Jacobsen 133 East Second North, wit celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, when theii sons and daughters will host an open house at the home of a son and daughter-in-law, Bishop Bi-shop and Mrs. Waldo Jacobsen, 561 East Aaron Ave., from 2 to 5 p.m. All friends and relatives rela-tives are invited to attend. They were married May 3, 1918, in the Logan Temple and made their first home in that city, where Mr. Jacobsen was stationed with the armed forces for-ces in World War I. He was assigned to teach mathematics to servicemen at Utah State Agriculture College and later served as an instructor at the University of Arizona at Tucson. Tuc-son. He began his 40-year teaching teach-ing career at Delta, where he taught four years and then went to Morgan where he taught industrial arts five years, before coming to Spring-ville, Spring-ville, which has been their per- , manent home. He assisted in 1 construction of the shop build-; build-; ings in which he taught at ' Delta and Springville. He was i head of the industrial art de-. de-. partment at the senior and jun- ior high school here until his retirement in 1958. For six ! summers, he taught high school farm mechanics at USU, Logan, to teachers from throughout the state. Mr. Jacobsen is presently a high priest and home teacher : in (he Third Ward. He was the first president of the 333rd i Quorum of Seventy; has filled a stake mission and served as first counselor in the Third ' Ward bishopric. He was a tea-: tea-: cher in Sunday School; twice served as Sunday School superintendent super-intendent and was in the Sun- . day School superintendency in : Morgan and Kolob Stakes. For . many years, he was a Scout : merit badge counselor. He also . served on the board of adjust-. adjust-. ments of the city. He enjoys . gardnening and since his retirement re-tirement has also used his woodworking skills in various building projects. Mrs. Emma Bateman Jacob-sen Jacob-sen has also been an ardent church worker throughout her life, beginning as an organist in her home ward at Alpine at age eight. She was organist for the Primary and for Relief Society So-ciety 14 years. She has served in MIA and was a counselor in the Third Ward Relief Society presidency. Before her marriage she served an LDS mission in the Western States. She was a member of the Teachers and Faculty Wives Club of the high school and currently belongs to the Hafen-Dallin Hafen-Dallin Club, the DUP and Ladies La-dies Literary Club in which she has been a member since 1928. She will be honored as a Diamond Dia-mond Jubilee Jewel at the forthcoming 75th anniversary and state convention of the Utah Federation of Women's Clubs in recognition of over 25 years of active membership and service in a federated club. Her hobbies are cooking, quilting and beautiful handiwork. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobsen are parents of four sons and daughters: Waldo E. and Ralph B. Jacobsen, Mrs. Wendell (Jeri) Winger, all of Springville; Spring-ville; and Mrs. Jay (Carol) Col-ver, Col-ver, Walnut Creek, Calif.; also ten grandchildren. The entire family will be present to help celebrate the anniverasry. |
