Within the next new weeks ISait Is.ike society will bo in a perfect whirl of wedding preparations, prepara-tions, for September prornines to vie Tvith ,1qho in the number of marriages announced for the moui h. September brides aro even now spending hours with dressmakers, and it is said that fall wedding trousseaux will be especially espe-cially olaborato and beautiful. Wedding dates and parties will be announced within the next week or two, and the lethargy of summer wil give way to one of the gayest seasons which Salt Lake has enjoyed for a number of years. Many and olaborato entertainments entertain-ments are in prospect for the early fall bridos, and these, in connection with the weddings themselves, will keep society so-ciety folks continually in attendance at some sort of function. An exchange bays: There are bo many splendid ways of entertaining brides-to-be these days, ways which are not only a delight ou account of the joy of getting together to discuss plans, decorations and the ever-happy sub-joct sub-joct o? a trousseau, but also because the quests who are always drawn from the list of best J'ricnds of the honored ones bring to the bride-to-be somo little tokou of their friendship which will adorn the new home and be always a reminder remind-er of her girlhood friends. There is the line shower, at which each guest brings some dainty bit of lingerie or household linen. There is tlie kitchen shower, when all sorts of shining white enameled and pale blue granite utensils help toward making the new kitchen a joy to look upon. Foreman to the army school of the line at Fort Leavenworth. In most cases no officers offi-cers have as yet beon detailed to take the places of those who have been sent On detached service, so that if the regiment regi-ment were to return to Fort Douglas soon there would be many vacancies to 'be filled. TlTrni the craze for the dance i " which has taken possession of society, so-ciety, something new in the "poetry of i motion " will eoou be demanded. Anent tho possibilities in the way of new fads , in dancing, Clrace Armistead Doyle ad-i ad-i vauees the idea that the next favorites j in society dances will come from Japan, i Sho says; "V i tli the tango on the wane and J even its most enthusiastic erpo- nents admit the truth of this the dance-mad world is seoking eorae- thing that will take its place. Suggestions Sug-gestions have come from all corners of the earth, and the national and folk dances of peoples of tho north, south, east and west have ben j studied with regard to their fitness for adaptation to the needs of the ballroom. Some have it that the official dance will be the ta-tao, a borrowing borrow-ing from the Chinese, and one which certainly differs "vastly from the graceful measures of the Spanish dances that have ruled Bupreme for the past year at every dancing moment of the day and that includes in-cludes every moment after breakfast. break-fast. Others look to Italy as the source of inspiration, and others again claim that the Eussian dances, modified so that someone short of genius can master them, will be the rago of the winter. The majority, however, seem to lean to the Orient as the most probable prob-able source of solution of the question. ques-tion. Although the idea does not seem as yet to have occurred to many, the classic dances of Japan present an immense field from which to choose. In that country there aro dances for almost every occasion, and, although the Japanese sense of the fitness of things would never permit of their use in connection con-nection with ceremonies other than those which they are 'intended to typify, the rest of the world will not neod to be so exact. If adopted this style will be found to be almost a complete reversal re-versal of the present idea of "fancy dancing." Eeservo force is perhaps its chief characteristic. Unlike Un-like the tango and, in fact, unlike the majority of dances ou this side of the globe there are no outward motions. The hands and feet aro never thrown out; rather, they are pointed in and downward, the fingers fin-gers closing instead oC following their natural positions. Although decidedly different from anything to which one is accustomed in tho avorago ballroom, it is no erthc-less erthc-less exceedingly attractive.
