Show Former resident dies in Roy; rites held here Funeral services were held at the Wheeler Mortuary Saturday Satur-day for George Franklin Burch, 93, Ogden, a former, long-time resident of this city who died In the Weber County Hospital at Roy, November 6, 1968, of causes incident to age. Burial was in the Springville City Cemetery. He was born December 13, 1874, in Springville, a son of George and Mary Elizabeth Hilton Burch. He married Maggie Mag-gie Tippetts on June 1, 1905. Their marriage was later solemnized sol-emnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died August 28, 1960. Mr. Burch resided in Springville Spring-ville until the age of 13, when he and his parents moved to Lake Shore. Before his marriage mar-riage he worked at mining, farming far-ming and as a construction worker. For 85 years he was a resident resi-dent of Utah County. In 1907, he bought a farm in Lake Shore and resided there until 1923. At this time he moved to Spanish Fork and became employed em-ployed with the Ironton Steel Plant. He later moved to Provo and ran a small dairy and was employed em-ployed by the Geneva Steel Works. ! In 1944 he moved to Spring- ! ville and resided there until ! August of 1960, when his wife died and he went to live with his daughter in Ogden. Very active in the LDS Church, Mr. Burch had served as a ward and home teacher for many years and at the time of his death was an elder in the Ogden 23rd Ward. Survivors include one daugh-J ter, Mrs. Delia Odd of Ogden, three grand children, seven great grandchildren, and one sister and one brother, Susa B. Andrus of Spanish Fork, and Arthur Burch, Bountiful. |
