John Green, who Is home on furlough from a camp In Tennessee. Present were Mr. and Mrs. .1. E. Green, Mr. and Mrs. Yyman Ovard, of American Fork; Mr. and Mrs. William Leaker, Mr. and Mrs. ,lohn Holmberg o'f Salt Lake City; and the family of the host and hostess. Last week was initiation week 'for the Y social units. Miss Mariam Young was received Into the Val Norn social unit and Richard Walton Wal-ton was accepted by the Brlgidiers. These two young people are the only freshmen from American Fork who are registered at the Y this year. Many of the 1942 high school graduates are working In the war industries. Miss Arlene Ruo'ff of Sioux City, Iowa, was a week-end guest of Miss Barbara Taylor at the home of Miss Taylor's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen R. Taylor. Both young ladies are attending the Y and living at the Knight dormitory. Mr. and Mrs. William Brooks were visitors in Provo Tuesday evening at the home o'f Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hutchings. While there they received re-ceived a long distance call from their son, Joey, who Is with the armed forces at Omaha, Neb. Both Pvt. Brooks and his wife, the former Ruth Burch, are enjoying their new activities. Melvin K. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Anderson, surprised his parents by walking in on them Saturday night from St. Charles, Mo., where he has been stationed. He has how been transferred to Hill field. Mi's. George F. Shelley spent the week at Vernal visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. De Marr Dudley. The special attraction was the new granddaughter bom to Mrs. Dudley two weeks ago. Mrs. William Chipman, Mrs. William Wil-liam Thornton, Mrs. William Householder, House-holder, Mrs. Walter Stcffin and Mrs. Phil Cave were luncheon guests Thursday of Mrs. Myron L. Crandall of Salt Lake City. Mrs. W. J. Walter and Mrs. Leo Van Wagoner were joint hostesses at a bridge luncheon Thursday afternoon aft-ernoon at the Walters home. A Valentine motif was used as a decorative note. Six tables were in progress, with prizes being awarded to Mrs. Leo G. Meredith, Mrs. Leland Le-land Mitchell and Mrs. Glen Sykes. |
