Show II P10BS ST FORT DOUGLAS SALT LAKE, July 6. Two moro alien enemies, one from Fort McDowell, McDow-ell, Angel island, and the other from Fort Rosencrans, San Diego, Cal., ar- rived in Salt Lake yesterday and were Interned in tho third war prison barracks bar-racks at Fort Douglas. They arrived on separate trains and under separate guards, the first prisoner pris-oner from Fort McDowell, San Francisco Fran-cisco bay, arriving over the Short Line yesterday morning and the second sec-ond over tho Salt Lake Route yesterday yester-day afternoon. The first prisoner is a man of somo distinction, having been formerly German Ger-man vice consul at Los Angeles and a j resident of that city for a number of I years. The second prisoner is a resident resi-dent of southern California of no prominence, but his sympathies for Germany were such that the government govern-ment deemed it safer to have him in custody. Arrival of the former German vice consul was expected, as a telegram from tho commander at Fort McDowell was received Wednesday by Colonel Arthur Williams, commandant of the war prison barracks, announcing that tho prisoner under guard would arrive in Salt Lake yesterday morning over tho Short Line. The arrival of the prisoner from Fort Rosencrans was rather a surprise, as it was not known that one had been sent from that place until the soldier in charge of him arrived at the fort with his prisoner pris-oner and reported to the prison commander. |
