Guests at Luncheon MEMBERS of the war work committee commit-tee of the Spirit of Liberty chapter, chap-ter, D. A. were guests at an Informal luncheon given yesterday afternoon after-noon by Mrs. George H. Dern at her home on H street. The house was decorated with garden flowers and a basket of marigolds was the centerpiece for the table. Two interesting entertainments of yesterday yes-terday were given at Fort Douglas in honor of Mrs. John Earl Lewis, who is visiting with her parents, Colonel and Mrs. George L. Byram, and will leave Monday for her home at Fort D. A. Russell, Rus-sell, where Major Lewis is stationed. The officers and women of the war prison barracks entctained at a dancing party last evening in honor of Mrs. Lewis. The post hall was decorated for the evening with flags and military banners and Bummer flowers were used on the punch table. About forty enjoyed the dancing during the evening. Mrs. A. J. MacDonald was hostess at a bridge party and luncheon yesterday afternoon af-ternoon at the MacDonald quarters for Mrs. Lewis. The early afternoon was spent with bridge and luncheon was served later at the small tables. The house was decorated with summer flowers flow-ers in the bright yellow shades. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Le Roy Pharis, Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Taylor and Miss Eva Jones. Lieutenant Gennings will leave today for Portland, but Mrs. Gennings will remain in the city two weeks. The marriage of Jessie R. Phillips of San Francisco and Jesse J. Macdonald took place Wednesday evening. The ceremony cere-mony was performed by the Rev. J. H. N. Williams in his study. Robert Jarvis took place last evening at the home of the bride's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Watklns, on Herbert avenue. The ceremony was performed per-formed at t) o'clock by Elder A. W. Rrown in the presence of relatives and was followed by a wedding dinner. Covers Cov-ers were laid" for twenty. A reception followed. Before her marriage, Mrs. Eckbert Eck-bert was Miss Amy Taylor and was well-known in this city. Mrs. H. F. Nicklin, Nick-lin, formerly of Los Angeles, but now of Rock Springs, Wyo., and who is a daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. McLelland. is also in the city visiting her mother and aunt. Mrs. Eckbert Eck-bert will go to Rock Springs to spend a short timo with her niece before returning return-ing to her home in North Manhattan Place, Los Angeles. Mrs. Kean Miller and baby daughter, Virginia Ann. arrived yesterday after an extended visit to her mother, Mrs. J. L. Wilson, at Berkeley, Cal. They will take a cottage in Emigration canyon for the rest of the summer. Colonel and Mrs. George L. Byram will entertain at a dinner this evening at tneir quarters in honor of Mrs. Cornelia Sabui, sister of Mrs. Byram, and their daughter, Mrs. John Earl Lewis, who will leave next week for her home at Fort D. A. Russell. Miss Blather Badger, Miss Helen Wells, Miss Rose Marie Young and Miss Lillian Wells have gone to Brighton to vidit Miss Marion Whitney. Mrs. W. B. LaVlelle, formerly of Salt Lake, now of Evanston, Wyo., has gene to Ocean Park, Cal., for the summer, accompanied ac-companied by her three children. They will return to their Evanston home in the autumn. Dilpert S. Dickert has arrived from Cheyenne, Wyo., to visit his mother, Mrs. R. W. Bradley, before leaving for Camp Taylor, Louisville. Ky. Miss Elsie and Gladys de Groot left Tuesdav for Denver to spend a few weeks with Mr. and Mrs. W. de Groot. The Sunshine auxiliary of the Rod Cross will meet all day at the Commercial club for sewing. The Women's Republican club Red Cross will meet today at the Bishop's building from 10 until 5 o'clock for sewing. The Utah branch of the National Lcacue for Women's Service entertained their husbands at a picnic supper at Saltair hist evening.
