Trinkets, jewelry and repurposed items can also be found among the racks of clothes. We like to play with old things, repurpose them, and make them new said Folster. Everythings sort of undone and redone. While unassuming from the street, a step inside Unhinged reveals many vintage with a current styling. The clothes are always really cute said customer Patience Smith, and Im a model, so I always have to have cute clothes. I want to come in with my friends. Another surprise comes with a look at some of the price tags. I wanted to have a store where I could go in and buy things said Folster. I try to keep the prices really doable. I love working around cute clothes and accessories all day, said Madison Smith, a Westminster College student what- and Unhinged employee. Its definitely a place that college students can afford she said. Come in and check it out. Westminster students can always take advantage of Un- hingeds discounts and promotions. Unhinged isnt just home to a mix of eclectic styles, though. In the back of the store lies an entirely separate area, called the Platform. Its dedicated to local designers, who set up miniature shops within Unhinged. Folster started the Platform four months ago. Its kind of a big experiment, he said. They do ever they want to do to showcase their aesthetic. Within the Platform, local designers are able to set up their own sales floors. These designers are also free to paint and decorate as they please. Its fun for me to be a local business that has many local businesses inside, said Folster. Folster also owns a trailer that he brings to the Sugar House Farmers Market, where he and his employees sell Unhinged clothing and accessories. Many of these items are created by local artists. Unhinged boasts new styles with a vintage flair This summer was the first time Folster took the trailer there. I found more things for the store at the markets said Folster. Folster has also tried to make Unhinged a supporting pillar of community events. The store is involved in the FYSO scavenger hunt, and is also a member of the Sugar House Merchants Association, a local business organization. Its so important to support all the great local artists and designers said Folster. Unhinged is located at 11.21 east 2100 south SLC, UT 84106. Parking areas can be found behind the store, and can be entered from 1100 East. The store celebrated its first year in Sugar House on September 7th, and will be holding an open house on October 12th at Unhinged also participates in the Sugar House Art Walk and often showcases a local designer along with a local artist. 5pm. We want to give back to the community, Coulter also added. The positive energy can also be found among the vendors. Local vendors take part in the farmers market for many of the same reasons. Its a lot of work coming up here from Heber City. But its worth it to see the results of our labor, which are positive, it keeps us going, says Laura Littman who owns Good Grains Gluten-Fre- e Baking Co. with her husband David Littman. We have the opportunity to meet people, and its also great for marketing, Littman said. Vendors also provide information and tips to businesses like their own. Along with meeting peo ple, the local people, we chat about bees and help others with their bee keeping, said Larry Jones of Neighborhood Bee Keeping who uses bee products out of peoples backyards from Provo to Salt Lake. The Sugar House Farmers Market has a Facebook page and a website, sugarhouse-farme- rs market.com. On their website are listed their upcoming events that will be occurring during the market and videos of their vendors, as well as contact information.
