The scene was the February meeting of the Murray Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Anderson was chosen by the judges to But-chere- it again! He rushes home to see his wife and family, and what does he find? Well, to begin with, is wife is now 65 years old and living with a re- overwhelming sponse that was given the new award. She went on to say, Each week we see story after story go man of 68 who she married over 22 years ago. The "resurrected" man's children are now 35, 37 and 40. He also has a raft of Mary????? that's what said. Scien tists are experimenting with freezing people (after they die, of Yup, I course) hoping to keep them until such time as the cure for whatever disease they died of is discovered. Then, they're planning on defrosting them, bringing them back to life, (I don't know how they plan to do that) and curing them of their disease. I know it sounds fetched and preposterous, but I'm not saying it can't be done. I recall quite well when going to the moon, and sending space flights out among the plagets was Now it's preposterous. become so ordinary we hardly give passing heed to those marvelous flights. So, if they say they're going to bring people back to life and cure them, there's little doubt in my mind but what that's exactly what some fool scientist will do. of Instead cemeteries they'll have freezer lockers. Then as the cures for now fatal diseases are found, they'll defrost everyone who died of that disease, give them a shot of serum and let them take up living again where they left off. whoa, whoa, whoa. Just think of the problems. Say a man died when he was 45 years old. His wife would be about 40 and his children about 10, 12 and 15. Sound about right? But Well, okay. Say that 25 years later the cure for his fatal illness was found, and, happy day, there he is alive 2B WEST VALLEY VIEW Thursday, Feb. 18, 1982 Anderson Receives Award 4 The experts claim that in some future year people will take an inventory of their freezer and the list will read something like this: 20 lbs. hamburger, 10 lbs. soup bones, 15 lbs. steak, 3 pot roasts, 6 casseroles, Great grandpa, Aunt Mary . . . - When he died he had a pretty good job, a home, a nice nest egg in the bank and several insurance policies. And where are they now? Well, his wife and another man are living in his home, the nest egg is gone and the life insurance policies put his youngsters through college 15 to 20 years previously. vice-preside- area. Mrs. Bradford observed that many different facets of the world of women were mentioned by those making nominations for the award. Children told of their mothers and grandmothers; husband wrote in to extol their wives; women who volunteer hours of work were mentioned, literally by the dozens and women whose lives are an inspiration to others were praised. All together, the Green Sheet editor added, the entries formed a great wave of affirmation of women and my regard for what we gals can and do accomplish grew with each letter received. A dozen lawyers would get rich trying to figure out the lawsuits that would follow such a mess. Inin surance companies, desperation, would be forced to add a clause that they'd pay only once on every policy, no matter how many times the insured man happened to die. As for me, I think we'd better pass a law right now to stop all experimenting on such "resurrections." We have enough problems in this world without asking for more. scientists being scienknow about what is tists going to happen. So, the smart thing to do right now is to go out and buy yourself a great big But ... . . . I freezer and be prepared. And so, Mrs. Bradford continued, the idea of the Woman of the Year was born. We purposely chose to have two winners each year inasmuch as there are women on either side of the valley whose names and achievements are entirely unknown to the opposite side of the valley. Mary White, assistant and manager of Zions First national Bank of Granger, was chosen in the western part of the Green Sheet circulation "Thank You, thank you," tells Nancy Anderson as she accepts the plaque honoring her as the Green Sheets 1981 Woman of the year. Her mother had not been able to receive the education she had desired and so passed the motivation on to her children. Some of the names the honoree mentioned as making a great impact upon her life were: Jim Cornwell, publisher of the Green Sheet, whom she met while a high school lass working at Murray Floral for Curt Bubel. He then told about her pleasant and efficient manner in the next weeks Prowler column. The late Varian school system, who opened the door for her to finally bring into being PERC, (Parent Educational Resource Mor-tenso- of Murray high for many years, was cited, and she told how, for many years after she was one of his students, he would stop her on the street to inquire how she was getting along and encourage her to keep improving. Tears came to Mrs. Andersons voice and eyes as she expressed her appreciation for the award and said it would spur her to continue her many activities.
