It may also be that the city needs a different government for the days ahead, just as the advisory committee recommended to the City Commission. vlvl The ticklish question is whether the city manager is the right form or if the "strong Mayor" government would be more appro: priate. No matter how much expertise is called into play, that's a question only time will answer. If West Cityians make the wrong m Valley choice on July 28, they'll have to live with it for a minimum of two years before any other form of government could be considered. the most unfortunate part m of Perhaps the entire matter is that city resm idents must again go to the polls afm w.' ter so brief an experience with this form of government. Once the disincorporation matter was put to rest by the voter, the commission found itself embroiled in frequent differences of opinion on what future course to chart. The situation was surely not helped by the lack of cooperation from some segments of county government. It was perhaps understandable that the county segresented this ment being literally wrenched from its boundaries - but once that was done it would've been preferable to assist the new city rather than roadblock its progress. But that, too, has disappeared into the past. West Valley City has a competent police and fire department and its planning and zoning is functioning in administration keeping with what city residents prefer to have done with the commercial and residential land. The city's administrative offices have had their share of growing pains, but are improving. In general, there is light at the end of the tunnel for West Valley and reason to believe some of its roughest days are in the past. Citizens now need to carefully study the options with regard to governmental change and go to the polls on the 28th prepared to make a decision that's vital to their future. The forthcoming election in which West Valley City residents will consider changing their form of government is perhaps a mixed blessing. It may be the city should have begun its life with a city manager form - WE BELIEVE ALL THAT GOD HAS REVEALED.' But have YOU really done anything about it? For nearly (4,000) years God has revealed through his servants, the Prophets, that mankind would one day engulf itself in the fiery passions of Final World Conflct. This future universal carnage has hitherto become known as "ARMAGEDDON." The Who, What, When, Where and How have become the most intriguing questions for which any earthly generation has ever sought answers. Rightly so, for our very lives do indeed rest upon our knowledge of those very answers. d As we enter the decade of the eighties (80's) we find a world of constant Political Upheavals, Social Eruptions and Economic Disruptions, which are beginning to rend and tear at the very fabric of our society. In addition to this, the 1980's promise to usher forth some of the most dramatic changes in weather patterns and natural phenomena (Earthquakes, Tidal Waves and Violent Storms) to which this old earth has ever been subjected. When one considers the massive shift of economic wealth from the west to the OPEC countries, in conjunction with the Soviet moves in Afghanistan, the Iranian Crisis, and the fading of American Military Might, the words of long dead Prophets become altogether too clear. WE ARE EARTH'S FINAL GENERATION. The shadows of night have fallen, and mankind is poised for its final leap into, the Abyss of Destruction. As frightening as all this may appear to be, the Saints of God need not fear. That is if, and that's the key word, IF, they have heeded the Prophets' warnings and prepared to endure these soon to occur events. All of the good intentions to prepare, to lay in proper equipment, and food storages, will be to no avail when the time comes. If you are not prepared, MORMON or not, you're going to find yourself knee deep in disaster right along with the rest of the unbelieving world. After all, you've been repeatedly warned by leaders of the Church to prepare, if you don't you have no one to blame but yourself. Now if you doubt that fact then take a lesson from Lot's wife. She knew the warnings but refused to follow the advice of Abraham. Now she stands as a pillar of indifference. (Or should say she immortalized her Salty attitude.) I If the Glory of God is Intelligence, then we should seek to gain knowledge of those events which are soon to occur, in order that such a knowledge may assist us in preparing to overcome those tribulations which are soon to be thrust upon the world scenes.
