Show 3 WEST VALLEY VIEW At Utech Thursday, Apr. 2, Director Of 1981 - Small Business Sessions Conclude TAYLORSVILLE. The first of five short-tertraining sessions for small business has been concluded at Utah Technical College. Small business owners were told by Dennis Knapp, general manager of Nordstroms that salespeople are central to retail business operations and the central purpose of management should be to support them. The first in the series in sales and marketing was conducted under the auspieces of the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the American Assn, of Community and Junior Colleges. Knapp said that selection, not training, of employes is most important. Since customer service is central, his store hires people who are nice. You cant train people to be nice and that is the most important skill, he said. Rewarding salespeople for giving good customer service results in more sales per hour.
