The student body is at liberty to bid the Herald any kind of farewell it des i res--perhaps this is just another case of unrequited love. The Herald will be next year exactly the type of publication that the s tuden t-e 1 e c t ed publications council desires, according to ourconstitution-to-be. Our suggestion is that with daily assemblies a weekly newspaper is purposeless. It would be wise to substitute a column in each of the Ofden newspapers supplemented by a monthly literary journal. o ELECTION'S: A reorganization of Delta Phi fra-ternity was made necessary when Cleon Kerr resigned the presidency after his election as student body president. Officers for next year were elected as follows: Rollo Newman, president; Steve Rushfortb, vice-president; Lynn Roberts, secretary. y New officers elected by Weber's chapter of Phi Rho Pi, national debating fraternity, are: Roy Ross, president; Barbara Lindquist, vice-president; Lynn Roberts, secretary. The recent initiation of Barbara Lindquist, Kathleen Foul-ger, Eugene Lynch, John Bragonje George Thatcher and Virginia Peterson gives the Weber chapter ABIGAIL ON THE SPOT: We hear rumors that Abigail, this newspaper's eminent columnist, is the object of critisism. The Herald, in gratitude for her work this year, feels called upon to rise in her defense. Students, the suggestion that there is malicious intent in any of Abigail's recent remarks is rankly unjust. Perhaps some statements have been unwise, but the border-line between humor that is in good taste and humor that goes too" far is so uncertain that no author can predict how an item will be accepted. "Over the Hiccups" has been maintained on a higher level than gossip columns of most student newspapers. We feel that her critics should recognize this and recognize also that the substance of such a column is never taken seriousl by the public. We might add that people wh. complain are those who laugh loudest when oth ers are exposed. We are sorry, of course, if any feelings ar-hurt. But we are sorry mostly because of finding that there students supposedly of college caliber who cannot take in the proper spirit a hone s t 1 y-i ntended joke.
