Show RESULT OF CARELESSNESS. Six Killed and Five Injured In Collision In Colorado. Florence, Colo., Sept. 26. Six persons per-sons were killed and five badly injured as the result of a collision near here between a west-bound Phillips-Judson excursion train and an east-bound freight train. The excursion train consisted con-sisted of one day coach and two Pullman Pull-man sleepers, containing about forty passengers, most of them enroute from Massachusetts to the Pacific coast. It is understpod the freight train had orders to take the sidetrack at Reno, but failed to do so. All the trainmen saved themselves by jumping. F. Sal-tar, Sal-tar, manager of the excursion, and five children were killed. A special with physicians was soon on the scene, and the injured were taken to Pueblo. George J. Judkins, who was traveling travel-ing to his home in Spokane, had the misfortune to see all three of his children chil-dren killed, while he escaped with a few bruises and scratches. To add to his sorrow, he was just returning to his home after having buried his wife in the east. |
