Show Mr. and Mrs. Don Carlos Schmutz Honored At Wedding Reception Saturday The L. D. S. Institute building furnished the setting Saturday evening, August 2, for the beautifully-arranged wedding reception complimenting Mr. and Mrs. Don Carlos Schmutz, who recited their mari-iage vows at noon the same day in the St. George Temple, with Pres. Harold S. Snow officiating offici-ating in the presence of many relatives rel-atives and friends. The bride, before her marriage, was Miss Ramona Cannon, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cannon, Can-non, who gave the reception. Also in the reception line were the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schmutz, the bride's brother. broth-er. Cnpt. Howard Cannon of San Luis Obispo, her grandmother, Mrs. Rhoda Knell Cannon of Hurricane, Hur-ricane, and the groom's grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Schmutz of New Harmony. For the reception the bride wore her wedding gown, an old-fashioned old-fashioned model with basque of white satin and billowing skirt of white net over satin. Her full-length full-length silk net veil hung from a cap of white imported French lace with aura of seed pearls and was edged all around with matching match-ing lace. Her bouquet was of orchids, white rosebuds and white gladiolus. She was attended by her sister, Mrs. George Jay, as matron of honor who wore a gown of dusty rose and as bridesmaids, Miss Fawn Schmutz, sister of the groom, and Miss Mildred Bentley, who wore gorwns similar to that of the bride, with basques of pink lame and skirts of pink net. All three carried nosegays of pink asters and gardenias. The groom's best man was his brother, Milton Schmutz, and the ushers included George Jay, and William Schofield, the latter of Hico, Nev., a former missionary companion of the groom in Europe Eur-ope and later in the United States. The lace-covered table in the dining room was centered with the three-tiered wedding cake surrounded sur-rounded by ferns and gladiolus. Pourers were Miss LaVera Mc-Arthur Mc-Arthur and Miss Margaret Jones, and assisting with the serving were Mary Lou Wells, Alice Thompson, Roma Snow, Bernice Miles, Jane Pace, Mrs. Von B. Cottam, Virginia McArthur, all of St. George and Miss Doris Atkin of Cedar City. .In charge of the gift room were Miss Rhoda Cannon, cousin of the bride and Miss Elaine Hafen. All were formally gowned and wore corsages of gardenias. Similar Simi-lar corsages were worn by the mothers of both bride and groom. Music for the evening included numbers by the recent Covered Wagon Day's Queen, Miss Noma Andrus, Mrs. Melba Baker, Stanley Stan-ley and Ray Schmutz, Seth Harper Harp-er and Miss Henrietta Jones of Cedar City, with Naomi Fordham, assisting as accompanist. More than 300 relatives and friends attended the reception. Mr. and Mrs. Schmutz left at midnjht for Las Vegas, and from there they went On to San Francisco Fran-cisco for their honeymoon, where they will visit With Mrs. Hugh M, Woodard, Dr. and Mrs. Melvin Schmutz, and. Mrs. Ethel S. Hall, relatives of the gfoom, and several sev-eral San Francisco friends, before be-fore returning to Santa Monica, Calif., where they will reside, and where Mr. Schmutz has employment employ-ment with the Douglas Aircraft company. |
