Show Miss Viola Wirhver and Lt. Lorin Squires Marry Here in L D S Temple Tuesday, July 10, was the date chosen by Miss Viola Wittwer of St. George and her fiance, Lt. (j.g.) Lorin Boyd Squires for their mid-day marriage at the St. George LDS Temple. Pres. Harold S. Snow officiated. A large group of relatives and close friends witnessed the ceremony, including the groom's parents, who came from Great Falls, Montana Mon-tana for the event. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Winona Wittwer, formerly of Las Vegas and now of St. George, and the groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Squires of Great Falls, Montana. The couple met as a result of Lt. Squires and Miss Wittwer's brother, Carl, being associated as-sociated as missionaries. After . graduating from schools in Las Vegas, Miss Wittwer was employed as a stenographer in St. George for an extended period. Since returning from his mission, the groom has been in the Naval Air service and is home on a 30-day 30-day leave from the Pacific theater after 16 months of overseas duty. Immediately following the ceremony, cere-mony, the bride's mother entertained enter-tained the wedding party at an informal family dinner at her home. After the dinner, the couple left for a honeymoon at Las Vegas where relatives will entertain in their honor. They will leave next week for a brief visit in Great Falls and will go from there to Washington, where the groom has his next assignment. assign-ment. Miss Dean Syphus, Mrs. Marion Graff and Mrs. Murray Webb were hostesses last Saturday evening eve-ning at the Syphus home to 25 friends, at a miscellaneous shower for Miss Wittwer. The evening was spent in a variety of games, after which refreshments were served and gifts were opened. |
