Show Funeral Services Held in Enterprise Monday For George 0. Holt ENTERPRISE. Utah Funeral services were held in the Enterprise Enter-prise ward chapel. Monday. Aug. 6. at 3 p.m.. Tor George O. Holt. 66. who died suddenly at the Iron County hospital in Cedar City on Friday. Aug. 3, having lioen taken there for treatment the day previous. pre-vious. He had been in poor health for several Years. Bp. Arthur Barlocker conducted the services. Musical numbers were: "I Have Read of a Beautiful Beauti-ful City." by the ward choir, with Katie Barlocker. soloist: quartet, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," by Merrill Terry, Howard Holt, Dur-ward Dur-ward Terry and Irin Holt, all nephews of Mr. Holt. Alta Holt at the piano; solo, Mrs. Jonathan Hunt; duct. "I Shall .'ot Pass Again This Way." Alta Truman and HetxT M. Holt; and anthem, 'Blessed Be the Name of Jesus," by the choir. Speakers were Henry D. Holt of St. George, Joseph A. Terry, Arthur Ar-thur F. Jones, and Bp. Arthur Barlocker. Bar-locker. All four spoke of Mr. Holt's humble, sincere attitude in life, his love for learning, for his community, commu-nity, his church and his fellowmen, and his usefulness in the community commu-nity , both in religious and civic affairs. Prayers were by Amos F. Terry, Enterprise, and Henry Bowler, Gunlock. Burial was in the Enterprise Enter-prise cemetery. Born at the Old Holt Ranch near Enterprise, July 29, 1878, Overton Holt was a son of George A. and Nancy Jane Hunt Holt. He attended school at Hebron, later attending the B.A.C., Cedar City, and the University of Utah. At the age of 19 he filled a two-year L D S mission in the southern states, after which he taught school in Hebron, Enterprise Enter-prise and Parowan. He married Julietta Adams in the Salt Lake Temple and they have since made their home in En-terprise.They En-terprise.They were the parents of five children, all of . whom, with their mother, survive. His three sons are Albert A. Holt, Jay Holt and Hugh L. Holt, all of Enterprise. Enter-prise. The latter two are in military mili-tary service, Hugh L. in England. His two daughters are Mrs. Jack Moyle and Mrs. Paris Robinson, both of Enterprise. He served for several years as bishop of the Enterprise ward, being be-ing released due to ill health. He held many responsible positions, both religious and civic. Surviving besides his wife and five children are four brothers, James Amos Holt, Joseph W. Holt, Heber M. Holt and Leland Holt, all of Enterprise; and four sisters, Mrs. May Terry, Mrs. Lillie Farns-worth, Farns-worth, Mrs. Dora Clove, all of Enterprise, En-terprise, and Mrs. Milda Murry of Murray, Utah. Many relatives and friends from all parts of the county attended the services. There were also many from Cedar City and vicinity. vicin-ity. There were many floral offerings. |
