Show Christian Stucki, Dixie Pioneer, Celebrates Eighty-Second Birthday Christian Stucki, one of the last four remaining pioneers of the Santa Clara Swiss company of 1S61, and an early Utah and Dixie pioneer, celebrated his eighty-second birthday, Oct. 7, at his usual work. For the last four years he has spent his time working in the Temple. He was born in the County of Bern, Switzerland, Oct. 8, 1859, and with his parents, John and Mary Stucki, and three sisters and one brother came to America. Captain Nellie Gubler of the Swiss camp of the D. U. P. presented pre-sented him with a birthday cake and eight of his nine living children child-ren honored him with a party at his home last Saturday night. Out-of-town children and their families were Mr. and Mrs. E. J. and Alfred Stucki of Cedar City, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wittwer and Mrs. Glen Webb of Hurricane and Mrs. Lula Tobler and Edwin Stucki of Ivins and Merrill Stucki of St. George. Lazelle is a resident resi-dent of Santa Clara. The other three pioneers are John Staheli of Enterprise, Mrs. Julia Graff of St. George and Mrs. Mary Ann Hafen of Bunkerville. |
