Many of Jacksons clients have already received letters from IRS agent Ronald Harrington calling them to appear at the IRS offices in Ogden and Salt Lake City. They are instructed to bring cancelled checks and receipts and other documents to substantiate income and deductions for a specified year. For instance, one of the letters instructed the recipient to appear Apr. 7 in room 132S of the Federal Building in Ogden between 12 noon and 9 p.m. One client was requested to appear Apr. 5 at the IRS offices in the Post Office Building in Salt Lake. She claims that the IRS agent there tried to force her to sign a statement against Jackson. In a legal complaint signed by IRS Special Agent Lawnie C. Mayhew in the presence of Judge Daniel A. Alsup, Roy J. Jackson is accused of preparing false tax returns for four clients, thus violating Section 7206 (2), Title 26, U.S. Code. Affidavits signed by the clients were obtained by IRS agents. In addition, IRS revenue agent Ron Brown signed an affidavit claiming that he, under an assumed name, went to Jackson to have his tax return prepared, but Jackson did not list the' proper income and deduction amounts on the return.
