Show DEATH OF SAMUEL PYNE A well respected citizen passes to the great beyond last friday night samuel pyne father of mr herbert S pyne at smoot richards gos drug store d ed of cap biar bronchitis Deceased had been ailing for some time prior to his death and seemed to realize that he was not long for this life ha died on his cifes forty sixth birthday surrounded by his family whom h blessed and exhorted to works of faithfulness admonishing them to follow in his footsteps almost his last words ware the lord the lord away bleared be the name of the lord ha passed away as a tired child closs its eyes in sleep with a happy expression on his countenance te nance as though glad that his earthly toils nera over samual pyne wan the son of john evne and arah a rah he was born in wellington england february 9 1826 and his boyhood days in the little village of chard somer england where he served his timo to abe tailoring trade he first heard tha gospel in thorpe street chapel birmingham in 1852 believing in the principles of moi monism ha m braced them being the only member of the family who ever accepted the truth he was expelled from his fathers house for joining the cormons mormons Mor mons but rejoiced through it all jl few weaks after joining the church he was called to the ministry and traveled seven years preaching tho gospel of jesua christ as revealed rave aled through joeeph smith in this age of tha world at the end of this time he wax rele asod from active missionary work on account ef hig ill health caused through exposure he was then appointed to preside over the norwich conference Confer enca which position he occupied for nearly two years when he married leah thrower the happy event occurring march 12 1861 from thia time on till he emigrated to utah in november 1874 ho presided over the norwich branch on january 28 he was ordained a seventy by elder john mcewan and at the time cf hig death was a faithful member of the forty fifth quorum brother pyne hg labored in various barj capacities tines coming to utah ia all of which labors ho has manifested a spirit of humility and meekness meo kness as wall as a feeling of earnestness that caused him to be loved by all he was the father of thirteen chil of whom arc living and two grandchildren the funeral were held in foeth ward assembly booms on monday afternoon last at 1 bishop J JE booth presided and the obsequies were conducted under the an spices of the forty fifth quorum ef seventies officiated as pall bear ers the well trained choir under the direction of eler J R bishard Bs shard rendered unveil aly besom faithful tomb in a sweet pathetic manner the prayer was offered by elder jas W bean at the conclusion of which the choir sang now hes gene well not recall him elders geo W gee john G jones albert singleton bishap booth and presidents david john and H H cluff made consoling remarks and all testified to the sterling qualities and the unfaltering integrity of the deceased at tha close of the remarks the choir rendered farewell all earth I 1 ly honors aud elder jesse fuller offered the benediction at the grave the dedicatory prayer was offered by elder geo V gee and millennial Mil lenial star please copy |
