Show Military Science professor, World War II hero, dies Colonel Aaron G. Amacher, University Uni-versity professor of Military Science, Sci-ence, died Dec. 18 at an Ogden hospital of natural causes. Colonel Amacher was born Oct. 8, 1919 at Logan. He graduated from Utah State University in J 1944. While attending USU, he was ROTC Cadet Colonel, president presi-dent of Phi Kappa Alpha, president presi-dent of Blue Key, budget chairman chair-man for USU student council, and received the Research Science Award and the Outstanding Man i of the Year in 1944. ' During World War n, he served !i with the 8th Infantry Division. ! After the war he served with the I Counter Intelligence Corps. Additional Addi-tional troop assignments were with the 1st Armored Division, 1st Cavalry Division, and 101st Airborne Air-borne Division. Later he served with the Joint Chiefs of Staff National Na-tional Command Control System. For this service to his country Colonel Amacher was awarded, during his career, the Joint Services Serv-ices Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Airborne Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, and Bronze Star with Cluster. Colonel Amacher served as professor pro-fessor of Military Science from Feb. 1, 1969 to the time of his death. |
