Show GRAND OFFICERS ELECTED. Although there are one or two mora lodges that will vote as Truth goes to press, enough of the returns have been received to Insure tho election of the following as the grand lodge 'officers of this jurisdiction of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for the coming year: Grand Master. G. A. Walker of Mystic Mys-tic lodge No. 2, of Salt Lake City. Deputy Grand Master. T M. Stringer, String-er, of No. 7, of Park City. Grand Warden W. .1. Monro, cf U.a . lodge No. 1, of Salt Lake City, or K. M. Ulmor, of Friendship No. 27, of Salt Lake City. Grand Secretary. Peter A. Slmpkin of Mystic lodge, No. 2, of Salt Lake City. Grand Treasurer. A. M. Pcndletcn of Jordan lodge No. 3, of Salt Lake City. Grand Representative. .1. ,T. Thomas, Thom-as, of Utah lodge No. 1, of Salt Lake City. There was no contest for the positions posi-tions of grand master, deputy grand master and grand representative. For grand warden, grand secretary and grand treasurer thero were three candidates can-didates each. Tho winners were chosen chos-en by handsome votes, except grand warden, which was close. The head of tho order who now becomes past grand master Is Dr. F E. Straup, of Bingham. He is a broti or of Justice Straup of tho supreme court of this state. Under Ills official rule the order has prospered and during dur-ing the last term great gains have been made. Grand Secretary Slmpkin is elected for tho fifth tlmo and Grand Representative Repre-sentative Thomas will bo serving his eighth term as representative to tho sovereign grand lodge. Mystic No. 32 now has the grand master and grand secretary, while No. 1 has tho grand representatives. In addition to the election of office of tho grand lodge and representative to the sovereign grand lodge from this jurisdiction, the several lodges have elected representatives to tho state grand lodge, which meets in this city, April 18. The list ha3 not been reported, report-ed, but No. 1 and No. 9 of this city elected tho following: No. 1, Stewart Mcl.ease; No. 0, C M. Jackson. The state of tho order is reported aa excellent, membership having increased in-creased all over tho jurisdiction. Tho funeral of Charles Auor, which took place under tho auspices of J'or dan lodge, No. 3 on Thursday last was well attended, notwithstanding tho the storm. John P. Meakin delivered a short, but effecting addres and Rev. Holmick of Illff M. 13. church contributed con-tributed somo well chosen remarks. A selected quartette rendered sacred music in a very affecting manner. The floral offerings wero numerous and of rare beauty. Interment was at Mt. Olivet cemetery, where tho good old man now sleeps the last I0113 sleep. |
