After nine weeks of training, which included 50 miles of road work, 82 rounds of sparring, and 120 rounds of light and heavy bag work, shadow boxing, rope jumping, and calisthenics, Peterson appeared to be well ready for his big bout with file veteran Ron Whittle from West Jordan. Unable to get a shot at professional fighters with equal experience, Peterson has trained hard for this big one, which if tie wins, might mean an outdoor fight with Jack Nelson ; this summer, and possibly some preliminary fights in the east or on the west coast. A win over could mean many Whittle &reaks in the right direction, especially if it happened to be by the KO route. Youthful Whittle, on the other hand, has plans the other way, and will be matching 60 pro fights of experience against the youth and skill of the younger Peterson.
