Twelve applicants applied for this position at the Lindon City Council meeting held February 18. As policy states the coun-cil appoints the new member in a public meeting. After in-terviewing each of the twelve applicants publicly, a vote is cast by the council and three final candidates are consid ered. The final three are again interviewed publicly and a vote is again cast by the council. In the event of a tie, the mayor breaks the tie with his vote. In this situation there was no tie. The new po-sition was filled with a 3 to 1 vote. As a result of that meet-ing Carolyn Lundgren was appointed to replace Jeff Ac-erson. Pleasant Grove City and the Mountainland Associa-tion of Governments (MAG) undertook the Pleasant Grove Bicycle and Pedes-trian Master Plan as a joint effort, beginning in Winter 2012. The initial focus of the study was to find ways to pro-vide a barrier-fre- e network of safe, attractive bicycle and pe-destrian facilities within the community that would provide connections to key areas. These areas would include parks, schools, economic areas as well as adjacent communities. Lochner Consultant Team headed up the study for the city. Community Development Di-rector Ken Young said that local cyclists as well as planning ex-perts made up the team that met together regularly to plan the project. This group worked to iden-tify the needs, obstacles and op-portunities for making biking and walking viable alternatives to vehicle use in the city. The plan recommends a bicycle pedestrian system that can pro-vide this goal to the community. Two potential sites for bike parks were considered as part of the proposed system. The Wade Springs property was selected for further evalu-ation. This site was selected based on its proximity to the Murdock Canal Trail and ex-isting trailhead and facilities at 1100 North; the property is already owned by the City; the terrain varies from flat to gently sloped, which lends itself to the different areas of a bike park; and opportunities for and use of existing parking and restroom facilities and water lines. The Master Plan is avail-able to the public on the city website at pgcity.org under Community Development; planning. New Businesses Coming to Pleasant Grove by Mary Burgin Several new businesses have come to Pleasant Grove in the last few months. There are also several businesses in the planning stages. Pleasant Grove City Community Development Director Ken Young said that in addition to the large dSTERRA business on PG Boulevard, two other busi-nesses that are suppliers to doTERRA are going in. One is a supplier called, "My Oil" and the other will provide aroma tools for doTERRA. The Book Peddler recent-ly moved to Pleasant Grove at a location across from Seven Eleven (formerly Walker's) car wash on State Street. An-drea Banner is the owner and will be selling books out of her location to the commu-nity. An hair salon called, "The Blue Wig," has moved into their location at 1008 West 700 South Suite "B." Marisa Sandoval is the owner of this new business. Young said that .the proposed, "Evermore," theme park is pro-ceeding ahead. The developers have already purchased 30 acres, and are in the process of purchas-ing more land to expand the con-cept of the park. Young said this will be a lot of fun and a destination for families from all over the area. Changes will be coming to the downtown area. Mr. Noel Vallejo has purchased several business sights from a long time owner and will be devel-oping those sights in the near future. Popular restaurant, "Chub-by's- ," will be moving in the near future to a new sight right next to Allred's Ace Hardware. More information on this move will be forthcoming.
