Show Luana Joyce McOmie Hullinger August 6, 1927 November 16, 2010 r ' ' - Luana Joyce McOmie Hullinger returned to her heavenly home on November 16, 20 1 Oat the age of 83. Her husband of 64 years and her children were present to bid her goodbye. Luana was born in Salt Lake City on August 6, 1927 to Douglas Rule McOmie and Iris Juanita Donegan. She married Arvin Jay Hullinger Hull-inger on December 20, 1946 in Lehi, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October Octo-ber 15, 1948. Five sons and two daughters were born to this union. A small farm was purchased in the Manila ward north of Pleasant Grove in the Spring of 1952 to raise their family. Luana, a devoted member of the LDS church, served in many positions. She loved the opportunity to write monthly letters to the young Relief Society So-ciety sisters who were absent from the ward. She had a talent tal-ent of putting her thoughts and ideas on paper and loved reading read-ing books. Jay encouraged Luana to finish her education after raising her family. She earned her college degree in English and Special Education. Educa-tion. She later taught school as a special educator in Alpine School District. The greatest gift she gave her children was the example of the way she loved and treated treat-ed her husband. Their's was truly an example of what an eternal marriage should be. Luana is survived by her 'husband and children: Greg, Dennis (Marietta), Judy Brady, Terree (Bruce) Hog-gard, Hog-gard, Bruce (Sherrie), Gordon (Ann), and Stephen (Becky). She has 25 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Other Donna Ruth Jarvis Hayworth. survivors include her siblings Karilyn (Frank) Williams, David Da-vid (Susie) Veater, and Jimmy Veater. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Carol McOmie and her brother-in-law Joseph Marsh. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marilyn Mari-lyn Marsh, and her brother Joseph Jo-seph D. McOmie. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 22, at 11 a.m. in the Mount Mahogany Mahog-any Stake Center, 1548 North 900 West, Pleasant Grove. Friends attended a viewing on Sunday evening, November 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Monday at 9:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. |
