Tony Cacaro 259-559- 7 6 The following immunizations are routinely recommended by age two and can be given in five visits to a clinic or doctors office: 4 vaccinations against Diphtheria, Tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP) 4 vaccinations against Haemophilus influenza type b (Mb) 9 vaccinations against Polio (OPV or IPV) 3 vaccinations against Hepatitis B (Hep B) 1 vaccination against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) 1 vaccination against Chickenpox (Varicella) If your child is behind in his or her immunization series, he or she does not have to start over again. Also, it is all right to immunize your child if he or she has a cold, runny nose, upset stomach or light fever. Completed entries must be delivered or mailed to the HEC or to the CJC by noon on April 10. First and second prizes will be awarded in both age categories, and the winners will be notified on April 12. City Market will display the winning entries and Grand County Public Library will display all other entries from April 12 through 30. You can also show your support of preventing child abuse in this community on Blue Day, April 18, by wearing blue clothing and by picking up a blue balloon from noon to 1 p.m. at the Post Office, the Higher Education Center or the middle Maverick. Blue flowers will also be planted in April in designated areas including the Youth Garden In honor of children. Grand County Prevent Child Abuse will be sponsoring several April activities for Child Abuse Prevention Month. On April 1, volunteers for Grand County Prevent Child Abuse will distribute short surveys and blue ribbons at City Market from 8 a m. to 4 p.m. The surveys will help the organization gain an understanding of ways its services can better serve the community, and will provide information concerning how people can receive information on abuse issues and become involved as a volunteer with Grand County Prevent Child Abuse. Organizers encourage the community to show support of children by tying a blue ribbon on car antennaes during April. Additional blue ribbons and surveys will be available at the Higher Education Center and the Childrens Justice Center until April 30. Baked goods will also be available to help defray the costs of the months activities. GCPCA is also sponsoring a coloring contest for children in preschool through grade six. Coloring pages for children in preschool through grade 3, and drawing pages for children in grades 4 through 6 will be available at City Market on April 1, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at the HEC 125 West 200 South, or the CJC until April behind Grand County High School and in front of the Post Office.
