Show John Newman Services Held March 10 for J. W. Newman Funeral services were held Saturday, March 11, at thu LDS Chapel for John Wesley Newman, Jr., 33, who was killed in a car accident March 7, east of LaSal. Mr. Newman was born May 7, 1938 in Moab to John Wes ley and Armena Wheelei Newman, lie married Judith Westwood of San Diego, Calif, in May of 1962. They were later divorced: Surviving children from their marriage are Elizabeth, 8, Julia 7, and Laurel 4, all of San Diego, Calif. Also surviving is one son, Nolan David, 8 months of Moab. Discharged in 1956 for medical med-ical reasons, Mr. Newman served in the U.S. Marina Corps. At the time of his death he 'was employed as miner by Centennial Development Develop-ment Company at LaSal. Other survivors include his parents, one brother, Fred and five sisters; Mrs. Don (Dona) Ruther; Mrs. Jack (Ellen) Lefler of Moab; Mrs. Tom (Dorothy) Moore of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Brad (Myr-na) (Myr-na) . Baum of Hanna, Utah, "and Mrs. Jim (Kathleen) Lefler Lef-ler of Colorado Springs, Colo. Services were held under the direction of Bishop Dahl Zohner of Moab Second Ward LDS Church. Pall . bearers were five brothers-in - law and one brother. Speakers for the service included Stake President Leland Teeples; Bishop Kermit Redd of Paradox Para-dox Ward, Paradox, Colo, cousins Kenneth Wheeler of Nampa, Idaho and Alfred He-ward He-ward of Salt:Lake City! Fam ' ily prayer at close of casket was given by Tom Moore and the dedicatory prayer at graveside was given by Rrsn Steele of Paradox. Out of town relatives came from Idaho, Arizona, and Salt Lake City. Interment: was in the family plot at LaSal La-Sal Creek under the direction of the Grand Valley Mortuary. |
