Show Sadie Hawkins Dance Planned By Students As every faithful reader of Lil' Abner can tell you, "Sadie Hawkins" i's the one day of the year that the women wo-men of dogpatch can take their choice of the men. On this fear-filled day the men do their best to become as scarce as possible, in mortal mor-tal feal of being caught and forced to marry some female who is, if not the epitome of charm and grace, at least fleet of foot. Not so at Grand County High. Here the situation has been mercifully decreased in importance until it is commemorated com-memorated by merely another ano-ther dance. The girls still ask the guys. However, the event is not one of naked fear for the men as in Dogpatch, but an occasion occas-ion to sit back relax, and let the girls take the initiative. TVs modern version of the old game is indeed a paradise para-dise compared to the original day. In past times of our own school, Sadie Hawkins has lasted an entiret week, giving giv-ing even the most reticent girls an opportunity to wreak havoc among the male portion por-tion of the studentbody. Thus it is that when Sadie Hawkins rolls around, the men of GCHS glance at the Calendar, heave a deep sigh of relief, and quietly praise the temperance of modern life. |
