Show Lottie larsen Pioneer Dies Death claimed Mrs Lottie Larsen arsen 76 one of Moab's earlest earl earl- lest est pioneers Monday evening at the Grand county hospital following an illness of several months She had been a patient at the hospital for a week Mrs Larsen came to Moab as ayoung a ayoung ayoung young girl in 1884 and had rp rp- sided here continuously until her death For more than half halfa a century she took a very active tart lart in community life and her leath is noted with sadness by wide circle of friends Funeral services will wUl be held this Thursday afternoon at atthe atthe atthe the chapel with Melvin Dalton first counselor in the ward bishopric presiding and under direction of the Mitchell Funeral Home Julia Julla Charlotta Larsen was born orn Jan 9 1875 at Mona Utah the daughter of Joseph Horace and Julia H. H Eagar Johnson She came to Moab with her parents in 1884 1854 and gre grew greto to womanhood here She was was' married mar ried ned to George Amasa Larsen at Moab on July 18 1893 the ceremony being performed by Judge L. L B. B Bartlett justice of the he peace Five children were born to them four of whom sur vive One son George A. A Larsen Larsen Lar Lar- sen passed away some 18 years ago Surviving are four daughters Mrs Alta Hall lIall Gateway Colo Cob Mrs Mada Williams Mrs Ida Id Id Nichols and Mrs Essie Essle White Moab five sisters Mrs Essie Essle Shafer Grand Junction Mrs Laura Allred Monticello Mrs Nora McConkle McConkie Moab Mrs Maude Day Salt Lake City and Mrs Leona Dallmus Moab 19 grandchildren 13 great grand children and two great great great-great great grandchildren Mrs Larsen was famed as a grower of beautiful flowers For or a generation her home at Moab was a showplace with its myriad of flowers in bloom at almost all seasons of the year |
