Show Lydia Skewes smiles and holds the special birthday cake given to her by her daughters on the occasion of her birthday, Oct. 8. The cake was divided and enjoyed by the Moab Senior Citizens at their dinner last Friday. To Lydia's left are daughters Elaine Peterson and Madge Duncan, and to her right is Deone Skewes. Lydia turned 92 on the occasion. Lydia Skewes Honored on 92nd birthday On Friday, Oct. 7 the regular regu-lar dinner was served to 43 Senior Citizens at the Center. As it was Lydia Skewes 92nd birthday on Oct. 8, she was especially honored during the dinner. Her children, Elaine Peterson, Peter-son, Madge Duncan, and De-one De-one Skewes arranged to have a beautiful special birthday cake served along with ice cream to all present at the dinner. Lydia was also presented pre-sented with a birthday card signed by all. Elma Lee Elderkin played the piano and sang a solo, "We Love You So Much It Hurts," that was dedicated to Lydia from all Senior Citizens. She also read two original poems written in honor of Lydia. Mrs. Madge Warde spoke about Lydia's early life, including in-cluding how her parents met at the old Taylor home and were married there. Lydia had also been present at the Miller home when Madge was born. Lydia's said that her recipe for long life was "Moab's good air, being active, and helping others to be happy." |
