It has been a season of learning, and hopefully the wrestlers will have gained enough to knock off the experience and know-hopowerhouses in the tournament. Box Elder and Skyview are strong, but they are human and humans are defeatable. It wont be an easy task in ridding of the Bees or the Bobcats, but with an effort of top strength, the team should have little trouble. Last week Roy entertained the Morgan High team on Tuesday and went to Skyview on Thursday for an important league match. The Royals dropped the dual meet to the Bobcats Coach Ralph Carter was sorely disappointed in the effort by some. The bright spots were Scott Danders, and Dave Parr. These two should be favorites for the region titles on Feb. 20. On Saturday, Roy traveled to Weber High To tournament. It was one of Parrs only four losses this season. The loss might hav yt?neT0er'Aidre gbttfiftah' nof. He is more prepared and a little more dedicated than ever before. Myer took on Steve Baxter from Clearh field, in-- a way the match was sort of a since Baxter lost 10 pounds in two days to get into that weight. He was required to do this because of an injury to a teammate earlier in the week. Myer put up a very good battle against the Falcon wrestler but was pitted against a kid who has been gaining more and more knowledge as the season has gone by. This set the stage for the Royals to get at least one first place wrestler for the days work. Sanders matched up against a husky Skyline grappler and was behind in points at one time early in the match. But Scotts prowess and pride was too much for the Eagle opponent to cope with. Sanders went on to win by a single point and brought home the first place ribbon. Roy will beat Logan this Thursday on the Royal c. Provo, winner of the state championship for the last two of three years is out to bring another in this season, but just barely got by Granger High last Friday. The Bulldogs slipped to third in the prep poll while Skyline High, who bumped off West 5 in a classic, took over second. Skyline sits with Highland in the states most competitive region. Coupled with the Panthers setback and Clearfields total domination of the Viewmont Vikings, the Falcons have grabbed the fourth place rank by a couple of votes. West takes over a very unfamiliar fifth place in the Top 10 poll. It was the Falcons sixth straight win and ninth victory in the last ten games. Orem, the runnerup to Provo in Region Four, and victor over a tough Hillcrest bunch last week, were privileged to be nestled away in the sixth spot. The Layton Lancers were content to keep their seventh seed after just win over the Ben Lomond oozing out 2 Scots. Hillcrest moved into the eighth step on the poll after its slim loss to the Tigers. Big Scott pinned his opponents from Morgan and Skyview and went to the Weber High gymnasium last Saturday night to snare a bloody fought match and win first place in the eight-teatournament. Scotts chances for taking the state title are better than anyone else on the team this season. He has lost only one match this season, and that was in a fluke situation against West. He is undefeated in league play with only one match to go. m SCOn DOUG PORTER SANDERS Royals invited to play Wildcats plan for Big Sky opponents this weekend Looking to improve last weeks split against the same two opponents, the Weber State Wildcats put out the welcome mat for Big Sky Conference foes Idaho State and Boise State this week. Game time each evening is 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats hit extremes on the road last week and snapped a couple of streaks. The Wildcats had dominated Idaho State in the minidome for the past three years, but ran into trouble last week as they could manage only 35 percent from the field to see their winning streak snapped.
