Show FARMERS' ROUNDUP AT HUNTINGTON Farm Demonstrator Robert Stewart, Gives Us Some Pointers On How to Make This Meeting a Grand Success. Ab I announced through the! press last v:eck, wo nrc going to be greatly privileged In Tiiwingl n roundup or farmers' nnd house, keepers' conference here in Ens-' tern Utah this year. The Utah Agricultural college has come to our support by giving this six days of school. It is the first roundup to be held in the history of Eastern Utah. The college is placing on ihclf a great expense ex-pense in sending this group of men nnd women from the college col-lege to meet with us. Their transportation, board, and lodging lodg-ing expenses will amount to a great deal, to say nothing about the expenses Incurred by them from the standpoint of salary. Now then people, to show our appreciation nnd gratitude to the off icinls of the college extension exten-sion division wc must get behind this move nnd support the convention con-vention by seeing to it that each is in attendance. Go nnd register regis-ter for this course. There is not a stock raiser, a general farmer, a housewife, a business man or womnn or an upper student but that will be able to learn enough new ideas about their business at any one of these seventeen or nineteen meetings to strongly justify them in nttending this convention. The convention will bu held at Huntington, as It Is the most centrally located town for the two counties. This convention is a Carbon nnd Emery county week of school nnd we want both counties to support it. Transportation charges and board and lodging will be placed at a minimum rate, so that it will be quite Inexpensive. Hotel nrrimtrnmiinht will he made to take enro of all who attend. The program has not been l fully made out, but we will probably prob-ably have some or all of the following fol-lowing speakers: Prof. John T. Calne, who will give addresses on all types of live stock from the standpoints of meat, feeding feed-ing of, marketing, the different cuts of nrt-nt, etc.; Dr. Frederick on nnimnl diseases and their control. con-trol. Ho will probnbly give a public clinic. Prof. Louis Wln-sor, Wln-sor, who will give talks on Irrigation Irriga-tion and drainage, water measurement, meas-urement, etc; Ben R. Eldredge, who will glvo Borne excellent talks on the dairy cow and her care, stable sanitation, milk sanitation, etc. This is the big coming Industry for this part of the state and wc ennnot learn too much about it. Miss Gertrude Ger-trude McCheyne will talk to the women and girls on mnny home economic subjects, such as home sanitation, proper enre of milk for infants, home decoration, la-ilmr la-ilmr saving devices, etc. Miss Fox will probnbly glv talks on other phases of home economics such ns dividing of the dollar, economy of the home, etc. Prof. James Hogcnscn, head of the boys' and girls' clubs work in the Btate, will give talks on the sugar beet Industry, growing of cereals, boys.' and girls' club, etc. Also a number of good local speakers from each county on topics with which they are familiar fa-miliar and are making successes in. There will be meat cutting demonstrations and mnny other things thnt will bo very educational. educa-tional. The success of this roundup will mean the permanency of the course for future years. I appeal ap-peal to the educational men and women, the bishops of the wards and presidents of stakes, the presidents of farmers' organizations organiza-tions and home economics clubs, In fact every man nnd woman in these two counties to net as n committee of one and help to mnke this grand move a success. The high schools and academies acad-emies are getting behind the move with earnestness and are going to nssist us with 'choruses, quartets, musical selections, etc. especially with their presence at least two dnys out of the six. Everybody 'boost for this grand move. Boost for your counties and state, Boost for everything that will uplift, that will nid In rnlsing this part of the state to a higher plane, and Boon we will have thriving communities com-munities hero. Our future possibilities, pos-sibilities, I believe, will be mot completely realized through the development of our agriculture. Wc arc just in our infancy. |
