Show CONSTITUTION DFTAXPAYERS' LEAGUE RECENTLY FARMED IN CACHE COUNTY Below is the constitution of the taxpayers' league of Cache county, this state, sent The Sun for publication by Martin Olson, secretary of the league, asking its publication that those interested interest-ed may know of the movement in other counties other than those of Eastern Utah. The Sun gives publicity to the same without endorsement whatever: Whereas, the undersigned all of whom are taxpayers in Cache county, desire to form a league for the purposes hereinafter set forth, do now tieclare as follows: First That all persons who nro tnxpnyers, regardless of political poli-tical affiliations or creed, shall be eligible to membership in this organization upon signing the constitution nnd paying the membership mem-bership fee hereinafter set forth. Second The organization fiht'.l consist of a county executive committee, composed of one member from each town, or tnxpay-ing tnxpay-ing district in Cache county, which said county executive committee com-mittee shall elect a president, vice president, of the league, a secretary sec-retary and treasurer thereof, who shall hold office for the term of one year, and until their successors are elected and qualified; members of the county executive committee, except tho first, shall bo elected by the members of the league residing in the several towns nnd tnxpaying districts of Cache county, nnd the members of tho lengue residing in the several towns nnd taxpay-ing taxpay-ing districts may effect local organizations in their several localities. lo-calities. Third For the purpose of defraying tho expenses of tho lengue each member shall be required to pay annually fifty ccntj, the first nnd annual dues for 1916, to bo paid upon subscribing to this constitution nnd becoming n member of tho league. Fourth The purposes for which the league is formed shall be as follows: (a) To secure as fan as the same may be reasonably possible a just and equitable distribution of the burdens of taxation upon all the citizens of the state, and to thnt end we declare a comprehensive compre-hensive revision of nil of the laws of the state relating to taxation should be had and obtained, such revision to be made nftcr a study and investigation has been made of the system of taxation employed em-ployed in the several states throughout the union, nnd thereby secure for this state the experience of nil other states. (b) That this constitution jnny be amended or repealed by a majority of the members of this league at any meeting called for that purpose. (c) We deprecate the constant rise in taxes in this state, and we declare thnt such increase in taxation has not been equally distributed dis-tributed upon all classes of property, und we pledge this organization organiza-tion to support public officers in their efforts to secure a more just and equitable distribution of the burdens of taxation. (d) We believe that this organization should be statewide, and we invite tho taxpayers of other counties to join with us in the organization and formation of a taxpayers' league of the atato of Utah, and to this end we nuthorizo bur executive commitep to take such action as to them may be deemed necessary to effectuate such purpose, |
