It is an This wet and sloppy weather we have been having is not too conducive to yiding or any other outside activity (unless you are a duck). However, it is time to have your horse in shape for the summer riding season. Many of the Park Gty horse people sent south" for the their horses winter, because of previous good results with the looks of their horse. For some reason they did not fare as well this year and the majority of them came back skinny and poor. To counteract this we all seem to be pouring the food to them now. And that is not such a' bad idea when you consider the fact that riding season has begun. If you have not already done so, your horse should be tube wormed by a veterinarian. The reason I suggest having it done by tubing is as follows; a riding horse is an adult horse and the package or syringe type wormer you can administer yourself does not do a good job on bloodworms. Bloodworms are the major irritant and parasite that plagues the adult horse. Intermittent worm-ing- s at home by you are certainly beneficial but they do not take the place of a thorough worming by your veterinarian. Most veterinarians recommend worming your horse every three months, so if you thought you only had to get it done fell and spring, you arp behind the times. Remember it is southwest chewed right doen to nothing? Your hone may even appear to be. cranky. Wouldn't you? Horses are a strange breed, they do not understand time.
