Show TO OUR PRESENT DAY PIONEERS MUST GO RECOGNITION lust 87 years ago the 23rd of this month, our community of SugarlIou.se was first established. A story of romance, hardship and courage could l.e written around the struggle of the band of pioneers who braved the unknown ; who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred hf:ior. And for what? Not for gold, not for conquest, not for personal safety safe-ty l!iit for freedom. And still what would these great men who sacrificed their all so that we might carry on derive from such late recognition It is to the present day leaders that wc should turn with gratifying remarks. It is to the pioneers of to day that we should show recognition. This issue of our paper will mark the first in which a word picture of these individuals and institutions in-stitutions shall be written. Through the columns of our paper each week will appear a series of articles written by Edward Reck, a Bulletin Representative, about the men, women wo-men and institutions who have accepted the challenge of the pioneers of yesterday and are now carrying on and continuing contin-uing to build for the future of tomorrow. |
