The names of our SHS Fallen Heroes will be permanently per-manently engraved upon the stone and the memorial memo-rial will be placed in the southwest corner of the student courtyard at SHS, allowing all who enter the front doors to view and pay their respects to our valiant alumni. It is the project leaders' desire that this memorial be a tribute from the SHS community. As such, they are requesting monetary donations from all inter-, inter-, ested Mighty Red Devil alumni and community members in order to pay the full amount (estimated (estimat-ed around $35,000) for its construction. They believe that paying tribute to the heroic sacrifices sacri-fices made on our behalf by our own local servicemen service-men and servicewomen is truly one of the most honorable civic duties we can be asked to fulfill Donations Do-nations of any amount are greatly appreciated and will be receipted at the SHS Finance Office during normal operation hours. Have you stored up lots of patience and have a plan in mind for how your are going to get tnere from here when you don't want to wait in bne for the road building? - , We all know that Springville and Mapleton have grown at a very fast pace in recent years, and we need the expansion ex-pansion and improvements that are going to happen on 400 South (SR77) and the 1-15 interchange. Of course we all wish it was finished and ready for use. But it isn't. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) indicate indi-cate that construction will begin at the end of this week and coontinue until the f all of 2009. We will have to be patient. .... We can all look forward to driving on a single-point interchange in-terchange at the freeway and 400 South. It will be like the interchange at UVU in Orem. UDOT will also add an auxiliary aux-iliary lane along southbound M5 between the two Springville Spring-ville interchanges. We hope that the bridge at the interchange will be an handsome as the one on the north end of Springville and will reflect what our city represents. We can also look forward to four lanes on 400 South from the freeway to Main Street, with bridges over the railroad tracks - no more waiting for trains! When the project is finished we will experience improved im-proved traffic flow, imrpoved travel times and safe and efficient access to business and property along 400 South. We will definitely see more businesses locate in that area. The prospects are exciting, and we thank all those in the community who went out and got the money needed for the project including US Representative Chris Cannon of Mapleton.
