Clark dropped 3.36 seconds, swimming to a lifetime best of 2:01.94 to earn the silver medal. Poised to end the first day of competition, Red Devil sprinters took center stage and didn't disappoint their red clad fans in the stands. Swimming the 50 Free-. Tim Call touched in 3rd with a time of 22.57, just missing 2nd place by one hundredth of a second. Finishing the big scoring event for SHS were juniors Charming Miller -11th and Garrett Pope 14th. Springville held a strong 26-point lead over second place Murray heading into day two. SHS had only one competitor in the 100 Butterfly, but for up-and-coming freshman Kol-by Kol-by Hargett, it would be his opportunity to score points for the team. Encouraged by his teammates' performances perfor-mances and determined to make his own contri-bution, Hargett hit the wall in a PR of 1:00.14 and scored in his first UHSAA State meet. Springville's sprinters came out on deck one more time to compete individually in another big point earner for the Red Devils. In the 100 Freestyle, Taylor Tay-lor swam to a PR and 3rd place with Buzbee close behind in 4th. Miller and Pope finished 8th and 13th respectively to earn SHS 46 points in the event and extend their lead to a commanding com-manding 36 points headed into the final five events. Red Devil distance swimmers swim-mers Calvin and Woods finished fin-ished with PR's placing 4th and 7th respectively in the 500 Freestyle, with McClain dropping an astounding 22.6 seconds to record a PR of 5:08.78 and moving him up 5 spots to 9th place. SHS pulled off another dominating performance in the 200 Freestyle Relay in which they had been seeded 2nd (.01 seconds behind the 1st place seed). Red Devils Tim Call, Garrett Pope, Daniel Dan-iel Simmons and Eric Buzbee Buz-bee held a 22 second average aver-age to swim to a season PR of 129.94, narrowly missing the school record by .04 seconds, sec-onds, but good enough for a 1.15 second victory over 2nd place Murray. Swimming in the 100 Backstroke for SHS, Call, Fullmer and Bowen all swam to PR's and recorded 3rd, 5th, and 17th place respectively. re-spectively. In the final individual in-dividual event of the meet, Red Devils Daniel Simmons and Michael Nugent (JR) finished with PR's, placing 8th and 17th respectively. Just before the final race was swum, Springville held a 51.5 point lead over 2nd place Snow Canyon, assuring assur-ing the Mighty Red Devils a historical victory no matter mat-ter what the outcome was in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The Mighty Red Devils not only brought home the golden trophy for the first time in SHS history, but their beloved and dedicated dedicat-ed Coach Amyee Hargett was awarded "Male Team" Coach of the Year for her outstanding efforts in leading lead-ing her boys to victory. , Commenting on the meet, Coach Hargett remarked that, "Winning the final event was the capstone to a phenomenal seasoa It was awesome.
