Show VAGRANTS ROB CHICKEN COOP Two Men Jailed After Trying To Break Into Springville i Residence Two strange men came to the home of James Stevenson Tuesday afternoon and tried to force entrance en-trance into tlie house. Mrs. Stevenson Steven-son who was alone at the time, lacked the door in their faces and make he,r escape thrpugh a door in the opposite side of the house and ran to the home of John Roberson for assistance. When Mr. Roberson arrived at the Stevenson premises he fouud the men in the chicken coop, where they bad lust wrung the necks from six hens and had the, dead fowls in a sack. After going with Mr. Roberson for a block they got away and made their escape, but were picked up later in the day by City Marshal Honey Clark, on Main street where they were found begging for money, and claiming that the blood on their hands hod been caused by injuries recently received in an accident. They were lodged in the city jail i whore a few minutes after their peculiar behavior attracted the attention at-tention of city recorder W. W. Harrison Har-rison who at the time was ill his office in the city hall-Marshal hall-Marshal Clark was called and upon bis arrival found they had broken all the window light, out of the jail and mashed to pieces all the jail furniture. They were placed in a tight cell where they remained until removed to the county jail by the county sheriff. They gave their names to the sheriff sher-iff as Albert Manning, age 41, and Frank Young, age 3S. A charge of attempted burglary will probably be brought against them for allenipting to break into tlie Stevenson home. |
