Show , wi i Local 31 en Honored i.-f Utah county fared well jn the Democratic state convention conven-tion held in Logan' Saturday. Three men from this section were honored with places on the ticket which was placed in the field for the consideration of the voters in the coming fall election. ' ' John F. Mendenhall, cashier of the Mendenhall Bank in Springville, was nominated for state treasurer. Mr. Menden-1 Menden-1 hall is well and favorably known throughout the state but especially in Utah county where he has taken ah active inter-1 inter-1 est in civic affairs. . Since the organization a few years ago ' of the Utah county fair board, Mr. Mendenhall has been connected1 with the organization in various capacities. He i has served as treasurer of the board and at present is the 1 president of the association. - ; Dr'. L. John Nuttall, dean of the coltege of education 1 of the Brigham Young university and a native of Lake View, ) Was the unanimous choice for the party's candidate to head ! the state school system. Since Dr. Nuttall as a mere boy 1 began his career as a school teacher in the Lindon school "of 1 the Alpine district several years ago, he has steadily climbed ' in the educational field until today he has no peer in his chosen line in this state. At Columbia where he has studied ' at various periods, his standing has attracted national attention atten-tion and the foremost educators of the nation are closely watching his progress. '' - ' ' , Abel John Evans, prominent Lehi attorney, was honored by -being named one of the presidential electors. Mr. Evans is one of the foremost Democratic workers in this state and has been in constant service in the party since its first organization organ-ization in Utah. He was a member of the state constitutional convention in 1896.; - ' 1 ' |
